It represents a departure in the kit-building process for Elecraft -- the individual PC Boards are provided, assembled and tested; assembling the K3 is more like building a PC -- assemble, plug in, test. And, there's LOTS of room for expansion.

Just as there are people that will build a K2 Kit, or even just wind toroids, I heard a rumor that someone will be 'kitting' the K3 by taking working boards, carefully disassembling, labelling, and packaging with building instructions, to make it into a traditional kit.

Ok, I just made that last part up
