Report from Visalia - #2 Saturday The meeting rooms and vendor areas were crammed with people; I attended the DX and Contest forum sessions, as the sessions with Q and A from the audience always seem most interesting... One tidbit that came out at one of these sessions this year is that in the hotly contested inter-club competition in ARRL Sweepstakes, PVRC, NCCC were very close in score. Allgedly what decided the outcome was the error rate of the NCCC log -- it appears that there is a high error rate in the 'exchange' information, as one might have if one were over-relying on the Check databases.... On another note, Harry K7LAZ introduced me to Juha OH8NC - Juha gave us a demo of the remotely-controlled Radio Arkola http://www.radioarkala.com/ -- With 24 elements (!) on 20 meters, we worked a station in Salt Lake City from Finland, while OH8NC was sitting here in Visalia; There were quite a few other discussions of remote operation, it seems like the 'next wave' as it has become so much easier. Tokyo Hy-Power - ever since I had an HL50 amplifier for my FT817, I've admired the Tokyo Hy-Power equipment -- they were here at the DX convention with some of their lineup (Courtesy K6AER) :
